Lizzie Merrill

Lizzie has over 10 years of experience in the nonprofit, social enterprise, and impact investing sectors within the US and internationally. She believes strongly in the intersection of profit and purpose and launched her social venture career with an Impact Investing fellowship from Frontier Market Scouts and a Conference Fellowship from Net Impact in 2014. Since then, she has worked across the entire impact investing spectrum as a corporate social responsibility consultant, a social entrepreneur, and an impact investing analyst.
Prior to joining Ground Up Investing, Lizzie spent 5 years running and scaling emerging market social enterprises in the climate and agriculture sector. There she led business development, programs, strategy, operations, and fundraising including helping close Seed and Series A financing rounds totaling more than $5 million and securing and managing a three-year $2.5 million grant.
She also worked as an investment analyst with Mercy Corps Ventures where she participated in every aspect of the investing process from screening to due diligence to writing investment memos and providing post-investment portfolio support. Lizzie holds an MBA from Columbia University, an MSc in International Relations/Corporate Social Responsibility from the University of Edinburgh, and a BA from Washington University in St. Louis.
